University Physics Volume 1

The first volume of OpenStax's calculus-based University Physics series covers mechanics, waves and thermodynamics with the depth expected in a first-year university course. Topics include kinematics, Newton's laws, work and energy, momentum, rotation, gravitation, fluids and the laws of thermodynamics, each illustrated with worked examples and conceptual questions. Released under a Creative Commons Attribution licence, it is completely free to read and distribute. It is an excellent, legally shareable foundation for engineering and physical-science students who want a serious text without the cost.
