Queen of Music S. Janaki Amma has passed away.

12 Aadi 2026 Renowned playback singer S. Janaki passed away due to old age on Friday morning, 11 July 2026, at her residence in Mysuru. She was 88. Family members confirmed the news. From 1957 to 2019, over 62 years in film music, she sang 48,000+ songs in 17 languages. She received 4 National Awards and the Padma Bhushan. She lives on in the hearts of three generations of fans through thousands of Tamil songs, including “Kaatril Enthan Geetham,” “Senthoorapoove,” and “Inji Iduppazhagi.” Film and political dignitaries, including Ilaiyaraaja, A.
